Albuquerque in the 90’s

201225" x 25"Archival pigment print

Albuquerque in the 90’s depicts a piece of relentlessly patterned daisy fabric, with a c-type 4x5 contact print (of Albuquerque, photographed in the 90’s) taped to it, smack-dab in the center. e daisy fabric creates a plane directly parallel to the viewer, whose emphatic flatness is abruptly broken by the depth implied in the inner photograph. By rephotographing the photograph, and deliberately including recognizable three-dimensional texture (the ubiquitous blue tape, the fabric itself), the smooth, impenetrable photographic surface is further subverted.
